11-Jan You're the judge This is a repeat of the very successful evening of the last couple of years where we 'play the judge' for one another, putting on a judge's hat and trying to be objective. Bring up to a couple each of digital and prints.
25-Jan Through One Man's Eye with David Haswell Prize winning photographer John Haswell died at the age of 51, of DVT on one of his many photographic trips, en route to Burma. This illustrated talk will show over 300 photos from the collection of 26000 , covering visits to 12 countries with his trusty Nikon.
08-Feb People and Places with Colin Trow-Poole, FRPS Tonight we will see how it is done when professional photographer Colin Trow-Poole showcases a range of his brilliant and thoughtful photographs of different people and locations.
22-Feb Open Competition, judged by Keith Sharples The first open competition of the year. Prints should have been in on previous 08-Feb meeting.
07-Mar Lighting Practical evening on using flash and studio lights with club member and lighting expert Arthur James. Bring your camera kit and flash.
21-Mar The Art of Urban Exploration with Tim Knifton Tim is a brave adventurer into collapsed and decaying buildings (and even some still-working ones) where he finds spectacular images. This is urban photography at its finest!
04-Apr Open Competition, judged by Johnnie Rogers, ARPS The second open competition of the year. Prints should have been in on previous 21-Mar meeting.
18-Apr Member Evening: One-to-one Another repeat of a successful evening from last year. Bring prints and digital images (with your own computer to show them). We'll be set up for lots of one-to-one chats where you can get impressions and advice from a range of other members.
09-May Marmite Images with Brian Haggerty Brian's images are strongly influenced by art as he takes photographs to the next level through clever use of Photoshop. Bring your prints for the 23-May theme competition.
23-May Theme Competition: Up Close judged by Bryan Pilot, LRPS Our third competition of the year is about getting up close and personal!
06-Jun Photo Editing A Member Evening where several of us show how we use photo editing software to tidy up images and create different effects.
11-Jun Barrian Cup Come along to the Barrian Cup at 2pm on Sat 11 June at St Francis Millennium Hall, 7 Porth y Castell, Barry CF62 6QA.
20-Jun Johnnie's Selection Box with Johnnie Rogers, ARPS With a mixture of the amazing photographs he has taken, Johnnie, who judged for us last October, returns with a show that will delight and amaze.
22-Jun 5-Way Battle at Cwmbran Held at Cwmbran Photographic Society. Come along everyone to support Abergavenny!.
04-Jul Photo Walk Out and about together in this Summer's evening, a walk somewhere nearby, probably ending up at a delightful pub! Bring your camera kit.
18-Jul Member's night: You choose! This is a space at the start of the summer break where we can choose what we are going to do closer to the date.
Jul-Aug Summer Break Get out there, have fun, and take lots of photographs!
05-Sep Five minutes of Fame, featuring YOU Bring as many pictures as you like, digital or print, and be ready to spend five minutes talking about them. Bring the images you want to show.
19-Sep I Shoot People with Dave Mason Dave Mason is an expert in the difficult art of street photography, where fine oberservation brings a new lens to everyday life. Bring prints for the 03-Oct competition.
03-Oct Open Competition judged by Keith Sharples The fourth competition of the year is this time open, so do pick your best digital and printed images.
17-Oct Member evening: My Three Favourite Photos A night to show other members photos you have taken at any time that you like the most. Bring up to three each of your favourite DPIs and Prints.
25-Oct Inter-club competition Three way battle with Hay and Ross clubs. A great opportunity to see great photos from other clubs. Here's directions (email members to arrange lifts).
31-Oct Wildlife Photography with Norman West Wildlife photography requires careful setup, immense patience and lighning reflexes. Tonight, Norman will be showing us how it is done, par excellence. Bring your prints for the theme competition on 14-Nov.
14-Nov Theme competition: Contrasts judged by Dave Bennett Our second theme competition of the year is about 'Contrasts', which of course is a subject close to the heart of any photographer.
28-Nov Table Shooting Tonight some of us will be showing how we set up and take table-top shots. We'll also have time for you to practice the techniques learned. Bring your photo kit.
12-Dec AGM and fun competition We round off the year with the AGM and the usual informal and hilarious competition. Bring your fun images!.
