12-Jan You're the judge This is a repeat of the very successful evening last year where we 'play the judge' for one another, putting on a judge's hat and trying to be objective. Bring up to a couple each of digital and prints.
19-Jan Creative Composition in Photography with Nigel Forster This talk encourages you to look beyond the recognised 'rules' in composition and create unique images. Whatever your subject preferences, Nigel will show you how to create simple and striking images that stand out from the crowd.
09-Feb Creativity Evening An active evening, showing creative photos and talking about being creative. Bring up to 2+2 (digital and print) creative photographs you can talk about, PLUS your prints for the 23-Feb competition.
23-Feb Open Competition, judged by Lyn James The first open competition of the year. Prints should have been in on previous 09-Feb meeting.
09-Mar Table-top photography Practical evening photographing things at the table-top level. Bring your camera kit and anything to photograph.
23-Mar In Search of the Wild Cat with Chris Hatch A photographic presentation about the Scottish wild cat by Chris Hatch, wildlife photographer and consultant in biodiversity, conservation and the countryside.
13-Apr One-to-one An evening of talking one-to-one about our photographs, where you can get a range of different views on your images. Bring prints or bring a laptop containing your digital images you'd like to get opinions on..
27-Apr Mount-cutting with Chris Longridge An evening with an expert on how to cut mounts for your images, with practical detail for both beginners and those who already cut mounts.
11-May Shooting in the Freezer with Andrew von Staufer A presentation from polar photographer and environmental consultant Andrew, who also invented the Skirider and founded the Christmas Archives! Bring your prints for the 01-Jun theme competition
15-May Print battle with Ebbw Vale This is the date for our annual friendly print competition against Ebbw Vale club.
01-Jun Theme Competition: Weather judged by Imants Grindulis Our second competition of the year is about the weather, which of course we have plenty!
15-Jun Images of Iceland with Leigh Woolford Continuing the chilly theme as the weather gets warmer, Leigh will be showing his incredible images from travels around the amazing Icelandic landscape.
29-Jun Photo Walk Out and about together in this Summer's evening, a walk somewhere nearby, probably ending up at a delightful pub! Bring your camera kit.
13-Jul Member's night The last evening before the Summer break, with various activities, including a software demo, images from the Photo Walk last month and the chance for you to drive what happens next year.
Jul-Aug Summer Break Get out there, have fun, and take lots of photographs!
07-Sep Five minutes of Fame, featuring YOU Bring as many pictures as you like, digital or print, and be ready to spend five minutes talking about them. Bring the images you want to show.
21-Sep Marvellous Monochrome with Andy Beel Monochrome is a tricky subject, and Andy, who is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, will be showing us his beautiful images in this medium. Bring your prints for the competition on 05-Oct.
05-Oct Open Competition judged by Johnnie Rogers, ARPS The third competition of the year is this time open, so do pick your best digital and printed images.
19-Oct Portraiture with Keith Sharples Members only. Keith Sharples returns to help us with an evening of taking photographs of other people, a subject that is not always as easy as it seems. Bring your camera kit.
02-Nov The Painter's Perspective with Toril Brancher Toril is a painter and photographer who is well able to present a unique crossover perspective of composition and art. Bring your prints for the theme competition on 16-Nov.
16-Nov Theme competition: Minimalist judged by Les Loosemore (ARPS, AWPF) This internal competition is about pictures that have less rather than more. Can you tell a story with just a few pictorial elements?
19-Nov Inter-club competition at Ebbw Vale A great opportunity to visit another club and see a range of high-quality photos from other clubs including Ebbw Vale, Tredegar, Oakdale and Western Valley. Excellent for learning and also to support Abergavenny!
30-Nov Inter-club battle with Ross After the close-run battle last year, Ross will be visiting us. Lots of great images on both sides, as usual. Judge: Vince Penticost (WPF President!).
05-Dec Stanley Chell South Wales Competition Abergavenny will again be again entering the Stanley Chell print competition, held by the Aberdare Club on Saturday 5th December.
14-Dec AGM and fun competition We round off the year wiht the AGM and the usual informal and hilarious competition. Bring your fun images!.
